Christmas card, 2002.
The word "Bethlehem" is based on my Foundational lettering, written with a smaller pen than usual to give it a lighter feeling, and with a distinctive casual initial "B." The lettering style of the smaller text is a modernized Carolingian, along the lines of a model created by Sheila Waters for her manuscript book Under Milkwood. See the Speedball Textbook, 23rd edition, pp. 30 - 31, for a full exemplar of the alphabet as Sheila does it. The background is an imagined view of Bethlehem, as I've never seen it myself. Painting created in Painter, card assembled in Photoshop. |
