			Because of the extreme variations in water and soil temperature, pH, mineral content, etc. throughout the geyser basins, there is a wide diversity in the organisms which grow in the "biomat." I was fascinated by the spectrum of colors and textures.
				Throughout the Yellowstone geyser basin areas, you'll see signs warning you of the danger of injury or death if you should step off the walkways and break through the thin crust into the boiling thermal springs. Unfortunately, most of the animals can't read.
